Ordinal 373 or 422 px.dll Not Found Error in Winamp

Ordinal 422

After installing the Winamp 5.09 mp3/media player, you might receive a dialog box error message that looks as shown. This page describes how to resolve the error. This problem occurs on Windows XP with winamp509_full_emusic-8basic.exe, which is the free, full version of Winamp excluding the bonus mp3 track. It may occur in other versions.

Winamp 5.09: winamp.exe - Ordinal Not Found
The ordinal 422 could not be located in the dynamic link library PX.dll.

To resolve this error, uninstall Winamp. You do not need to reboot before proceeding. Reinstall Winamp, but make sure to uncheck the "Audio File Support --> Sonic Ripping/Burning support" option on the "Choose Components" panel of Winamp Setup. You probably will not need to reboot again, and Winamp should now start up without the error message.

If you receive an ordinal 373 error, you need to download the px.dll file and copy it into the folder where Winamp is installed, which by default is c:\program files\winamp.

Download the file here: http://www.btinternet.com/~meggamusicweb/tech/winamp/pxdll.zip (outdated link) pxdll.zip (137K) for Winamp version 5.04+
